Fork & Shock Rebuild
TYPICAL COST BREAKDOWN (Not including applicable sales tax)
$150 - Labor with Forks & Shock removed from the motorcycle
$100 - Fork Service Kit including oil/dust seals and inner/outer fork bushings
$130 - Complete Shock Service Kit including bump stop, bladder, piston band and seal kit.
$75 - Shock Seal Head Assembly complete
$40 - Shock Seal Service Kit including shaft bushing, oil/dust seals and o-rings
$30 - Fork/Shock Oil/Liter (3 Liters typically required)
Note - The cost of any additional parts requiring replacement found during disassembly will be communicated and agreed upon prior to order. Actual pricing may vary slightly by make, model and year.

Why Rebuilds Matter
Forks and shocks endure constant stress: fluid pressurization, seal friction, debris contamination, and heat. Over time this leads to:
- Reduced damping performance and inconsistent response.
- Leaks and contamination that can accelerate wear of internal parts.
- Increased stiction and poor feedback from the front end.
- Loss of ride height and increased bottoming under load.
A rebuild returns dampers to near-new condition and is the single most effective maintenance step to preserve handling and safety.

Detailed Rebuild Process

Pre-Service Inspection
Document external condition, check for straightness of forks and integrity of shock bodies, and note any aftermarket parts or modifications.
Disassembly
Each component is carefully disassembled in a clean environment to prevent contamination. We examine shafts for scoring, pistons for wear, and bodies for corrosion.
Clean & Measure
All internal surfaces are cleaned and measured. Bushing clearances and shaft straightness are checked to assess if components remain within service tolerances.
Replace Wear Items
We replace fork seals, dust wipers, bushings, O-rings, and shock seals with high-quality replacement parts. Worn pistons or cartridges are replaced or refurbished as needed.
New Fluid & Final Assembly
Factory or performance fluids are selected based on service recommendations and riding application. We set preload and torque components to spec.
Vacuum Bleed & Nitrogen Service
For reservoir shocks, we vacuum bleed and perform proper nitrogen charge to maintain consistent damping and reduce fluid aeration.
Key Benefits of a Rebuild
Restored Suspension Performance
Restores original travel and damping behavior.
Leak & Failure Prevention
Eliminates leaks and reduces the risk of sudden failures.
Extended Component Life
Extends life of cartridges and shock internals.
Improved Comfort & Confidence
Improves comfort and rider confidence.
Protection from Secondary Damage
Prevents costly secondary damage to frames or steering components.

Rebuild vs. Re-Valve — Which Do You Need?
temp sub
Rebuild
Necessary when seals are leaking, bushings are worn, or components show physical deterioration. It’s a restorative service that prioritizes component integrity.
Re-Valve
Focused on changing how the suspension reacts. If your suspension is physically sound but does not match your riding style, a re-valve will match your suspension internals to your age, weight, ability and discipline (motocross, desert, trail, etc.).
When to Consider a Rebuild
- Visible leaks at fork seals or shock seals.
- Excessive front-end dive or rear-end instability.
- Increased rider fatigue due to harsh feedback.
- Noticeable changes in ride height or progressive bottoming.
- After heavy use in dusty or wet environments where seals and fluids are exposed to contamination.
Parts and Quality Standards
We use OEM-level or better replacement seals and fluids. For specialized applications, we can upgrade to performance components including cartridge kits, high-temp fluids, and advanced seal materials to better resist the conditions of your typical riding environment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can you rebuild aftermarket forks/shocks?
Yes, we rebuild both OEM and many aftermarket units. Provide make and model information during booking; if a rare component requires special parts, we’ll source them or advise on alternatives.
How often should I rebuild my suspension?
For street bikes with moderate use, every 20,000–30,000 miles is common, but severe conditions require more frequent attention. Off-road use may need yearly or semi-annual service depending on exposure. Manufacturer's recommended service every 50 hours.
Do you offer full cartridge upgrades during a rebuild?
Yes. If your budget and goals support it, we can install cartridge kits or race-level internals during the rebuild process to drastically improve performance.
